Ream — Terms of Service

Last updated: 23 August 2026

These Terms govern your use of the Ream mobile app ("the app"), published by Anvix Labs ("we", "us"). By installing or using the app, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.

The service

Ream is a PDF toolkit that runs entirely on your Android device. It merges, splits, reorders, converts, compresses, protects, unlocks, signs, watermarks and numbers PDF files. It has no server component and no internet permission — see the Privacy Policy for what that means in practice.

Price

Ream is free. There is no subscription, no in-app purchase, no advertising and no account. Because there is nothing to buy, there is nothing to refund and no billing dispute to have. If we ever introduce a paid feature, it will be announced in the app's release notes and these Terms will be updated before it ships.

Your files are yours

We claim no rights over anything you open, create or export with the app. We never receive your documents, so we could not use them even if we wanted to. You are responsible for having the right to modify the files you process — for example, you should not remove a password from a document you are not entitled to open.

Keep your own backups

Every tool writes a new file and never modifies the one you picked, which is the main protection against losing work. Even so, the app is a file-processing tool operating on your own storage: keep a copy of anything you cannot afford to lose before processing it. Results stay in the app's private storage until you save or share them, and are deleted if you clear the app's data or uninstall it.

What the app does not claim to do

  • Sign is not a digital signature. It places a picture of your handwritten signature on a page. It is not a certificate-based signature, it does not cryptographically prove who signed, and it may not satisfy any legal or regulatory requirement for a signed document. Whether a stamped signature is acceptable for your purpose is for you to determine.
  • Compression is lossy. Images inside a compressed PDF lose detail permanently and cannot be restored from the output. The app says so before you run it.
  • Passwords cannot be recovered. Remove password works only on a file you can already open. Ream does not guess, crack or bypass passwords.
  • Not every PDF is supported. XFA forms and certificate-encrypted documents are refused rather than silently damaged, and unusual or corrupted files may not open at all. Where a file cannot be handled correctly, the app tells you instead of producing a broken result.
  • Accessibility structure may be lost. Tagged-PDF and accessibility metadata are not preserved by most operations.

Acceptable use

You agree not to use the app to infringe anyone's rights or to break any law, and not to use it to access documents you are not authorised to access. Since the app runs entirely on your device with no service behind it, there is no account for us to suspend — but these obligations are yours regardless.

Availability & changes

We may update, change or discontinue features at any time. A version already installed on your device keeps working; we have no ability to disable it remotely, and no mechanism to do so.

Disclaimers

The app is provided "as is" and without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We do not warrant that every PDF will be processed correctly, that output will be free of error, or that the app is free of defects.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Anvix Labs is not liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential damages, for lost or corrupted files, or for decisions made on the basis of the app's output. Because Ream is supplied free of charge, our total aggregate liability to you is limited to ₹1,000. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

Open-source components

Ream includes third-party open-source software, notably Apache PDFBox (via the PDFBox-Android port) under the Apache License 2.0. The full list and the licence texts ship inside the app, under Settings → About → Open source licences. Those components are governed by their own licences.

Termination

You may stop using the app at any time by uninstalling it.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of India, and disputes are subject to the courts of India. If you use the app as a consumer elsewhere, you keep any mandatory rights your local law gives you.
